Près de quinze ans après sa disparition, Frank Sinatra reste Le Chanteur, The Voice. Dépassant les clivages, il sut glorifier la chanson américaine. Sans trucages ni complaisances, par son seul talent et la sincérité qu'il mettait dans ses interprétations. Frank Sinatra traversa plusieurs périodes. Celle qui l'associa à l'arrangeur Nelson Riddle représente sans doute le sommet de sa carrière. « Songs for Young Lovers », « Swing Easy », « In the Wee Small Hours », « Songs for Swingin'Lovers ! », quatre albums incontournables issus de leur collaboration. Faut-il rappeler que la version de My Funny Valentine enregistrée par Miles Davis devait presque tout à celle de Frankie ?

Fifteen years after his disappearance, Frank Sinatra remains The Voice. He survived all divisions, never resorting to gimmicks or showing any complacency - just his talent, and the sincerity he put into every performance. Sinatra glorified American Song. He traversed several periods, but his association with arranger Nelson Riddle no doubt represents the zenith of his career, with four albums - Songs for Young Lovers, Swing Easy, In the Wee Small Hours and Songs for Swingin'Lovers ! - which are indispensable, whether you're a fan of popular song or jazz. Remember, Miles Davis' recording of My Funny Valentine owed almost everything to Frankie's version.
