Built in the Middle Ages against the chalk cliff towering above a bend in the Seine and the forest of Moisson, the Château de La Roche-Guyon features many different types of architecture. From the old keep in the north to the 18th-century stables, from the troglodytic dovecote to the Enlightenment vegetable garden to the south, from the ceremonial drawing rooms to the expiatory chapels created by Cardinal de Rohan, from the Troubadour-style guard room to the pillboxes hollowed out of the rock on the orders of Field Marshal Rommel, the chateau's guests experience a whirl of (hi)stories. Visiting this imposing chateau means strolling through the heart of one of the key locations in the Île-de-France region.
