Dr. Jean-Jacques de Dardel is the Swiss Ambassador to China, Mongolia and the DPRK. He is the former Swiss Ambassador to France and Monaco (2011-2014), and to the International Organization of La Francophonie (2013). He also served that year as Head of the Swiss Delegation to Unesco, and previously as the Swiss Ambassador to Belgium and Head of the Swiss Mission to NATO (2007-2011). Prior to this, he was the Head of the FDFA Political Affairs Division with responsibility for Europe, Central Asia, the Council of Europe and the OSCE. Dr. de Dardel has also held a number of posts in Bern, Vienna, Washington, Canberra and Paris, where he served first as a ministerial advisor on cultural affairs at the Swiss Embassy before becoming Ambassador to the International Organisation of La Francophie (1996-2000). He is the author of several books, monographs and articles on international affairs, international security, art and history.
